Fiat of Illusion, Original Artwork
In Fiat of Illusion, classical iconography collides with economic symbolism to reimagine a $2 bill as a stage for mythology, modernity, and the market’s manufactured truths. A reinterpretation of Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus rises from a stylized sea reminiscent of Hokusai’s wave, framed by New York’s financial skyline. A haloed goddess stands composed amid volatility - a calm eye in capitalism’s storm; while a celestial figure dives toward a digitized signature of value. The architecture of empire, the eroticism of myth, and the currency of belief converge here, challenging the viewer to reconsider what is divine, what is designed, and what is merely printed into power.
